Technology Camps

TechStars® by Computer Explorers have designed camps to engage young children in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) approach to learning.  Our camps provide a hands-on educational setting to make learning fun!

Lunch Bunch Option (ages 6-10): Children whose camp ends at 11:45 am, can stay for lunch until 1:00 pm for $25 per week/per child.  You must fill out a registration form at the Recreation Center.


LEGO® In Motion (ages 6-9):

Young budding engineers love this hands-on, minds-on camp.  Concepts of simple machines such as gears, pulleys, levers, and wheels are introduced the a series of activity-card LEGO® building projects.  With the use of a motor and electrical controls, the models come alive right before their eyes!  There will be all new models to tinker with this summer.

Minecraft Adventure (ages 7-10):

Are you a builder, crafter, miner or farmer?  This is the perfect camp for eager minecrafters to learn the comprehensive features Minecraft PC offers, participate in teamwork, and collaborate while playing with other students on a teacher-monitored closed server.

LEGO® Robotics (ages 7-11):

LEGO® Mindstorms provides wonderful hands-on opportunities for students to experiment and learn about the fundamentals of robotics, construction, and computer programming.  We will be using familiar LEGO® bricks to build around a micro computer and then using computer software to bring the robot to life.

Computer Coding in Minecraft (ages 8-13):

This camp is more than just “mining” and “crafting” in Minecraft.  Students will learn a range of coding concepts like loops, functions, and conditionals using JAVA to create MODs for the game.  This a fun introduction to object oriented computer programming.

Minecraft Power Users (ages 8-12):

Are you interested in checking out modpacks that let you ride an ender dragon or a creeper pig?  Do you want to get a NASA workbench to build a rocket and blast off to the moon and plant your own flag on the surface?  The possibilities are endless with different modpacks.  Come have fun!

Video Animation Gaming (ages 8-13):

Students will be using the software program ‘Scratch’ developed by the MIT Media Institute to create animation, music videos, Pac-Man like games, and more.  Creations from this camp, along with a copy of this software will be sent home so students may continue to have fun.
