About this Program:

The Counselor in Training Program provides the opportunity for 14 and 15-year-olds to develop their leadership skills, explore their interests, and prepare for future employment. Participants will gain valuable experience working with children and after successfully completing the program, they will feel confident and prepared to work in any camp as a counselor or activity specialist. This program will be led by a Counselor in Training (CIT) Coordinator who will guide, encourage, and evaluate the participants.

Topics that the program will cover include planning and leading activities for small or large groups, communicating with children and parents, and supervising activity areas such as the pool or playground.  It will also cover flexibility, creativity, teamwork, goal setting, and self-reflection. On a week to week basis, participants will be assigned specific camp duties (i.e. assist day camp, help the Fun & Games Specialist, etc.). The CIT Coordinator will work closely with our Adventure Day Camp Director with regards to program assignments.

Participants to the CIT Program should be energetic, mature, responsible, and have a strong desire to work with children.

Completion of the CIT Program does not guarantee future employment.
